Jalan Sultan Prawn Noodles @ Kallang

One of my favourite prawn noodles in Singapore is Jalan Sultan Prawn Noodles! This prawn mee was introduced by my mum who packed it home for me when I was sick and eating it actually perked me up! So I made a trip down over a weekend to check it out. Jalan Sultan Prawn Noodles is a typical Singaporean alfresco coffee shop. So tip: is to go on cooling day or pack home to eat. We felt baked on a sunny day and with the tentage keeping the heat in the alley. My personal favorite is the King Prawn Pork Rib Beehoon Soup ($8) after trying different prawn sizes, soup/dry. But even if you were to opt for regular prawn ($5), they use the same soup base brewed in prawn shells that make it really strong flavored and delicious! Their pork ribs are also tender without being over fatty. Most of the time, I get chunks of meat in the soup as well. Sometimes when I eat pork ribs prawn mee in other parts of Singapore, I get …

Meatball Noodles @ Streetside, Khaoyai

On our last night, we decided it was time to brave some street food. At least the impact is minimized even if we get a tummy upset 😛 So we decided to try this meatball noodles street food stall (30bht/bowl = SGD$1.30) outside 7-11 (few km from the entrance of Khaoyai).   We decided to order 1 bowl to try, and the taste was really local, authentic and flavourful. So we ordered another. However, as I was eating the first bowl, I found 1 strain of hair. So i fished it out and tried to ignore it, then I saw a bug in the soup. Kind of lost of appetite then and decided to stop eating. Then, N found 3 bugs in the second bowl, which was when we decided it was time to abandon our food and hunt for something else. I should have photographed all the “extras” in the soup. Oh well, not recommended for anyone with a weak stomach for sure, though it was yummy and very cheap. In case you were wondering, …

Summer Palace @ Regent (Restaurant Week)

Food Quality: 7.5/10 Value for Money: 5/10 ($55++/pax – Restaurant Week) Service: 8/10 Heard a lot about Summer Palace in many lists of Chinese restaurants to try in Singapore, so was quite excited to be able to bring our family to try it out in this Restaurant Week! Summer Palace in a Cantonese restaurant, whose menus are complemented by a collection of fine Chinese art and antiques. It’s quite a small restaurant with only ~15 tables, and 2 private dining rooms are available for business and private functions. Personally find the service great.  As my parents prefer not to eat beef, we asked them if they could change the item on the menu and they were happy to change it to chicken, cooked in the same style. And halfway through the meal, we found it warm and they also quickly adjusted the temperature for us. Very good service but I guess for the price, they better had good service too! 😛 Restaurant week tasting menu! We found all the servings small (we were still hungry when we …
