P Bistro @ Owen Road

P Bistro is a cosy hidden gem near Little India! Simple menu in a cosy space, and I’m really glad for this flexitarian cafe with vegetarian options. We shared the Pomelo Salad for starters and I love this dish! This dish had a generous serving of pomelo, with fresh tomatoes, onions and fried shallots with a refreshing zingy sauce! I would go back to eat this salad as a main. For mains, N had the Beef Bolognise Spaghetti ($18) while I tried the Vegetarian Pasta Fresca ($14). Both were splendidly prepared. The vegetarian pasta with a clear soupy base is one of my favourites in Singapore, rivaled probably only by Original Sin. With the fine quality of food at relatively affordable prices, I am not surprised they already have a second branch at Palais Renaissance! Will be back! Recipe: Nepalese Dwarika’s Summer Salad

During my amazing stay at Dwarika’s at Nepal before we did our Poon Hill trek, N and I tried some amazing food at the Dwarika’s Resort. At that time I wasn’t vegan, but the food quality was exquisite. Since then, I have come to learn that at Dwarika’s Resort Dhulikhel, Mr. Pramod Mahaseth, the head chef, obtains almost all of the restaurant’s ingredients from their very own two organic farms – one near Dhulikhel and the other in Chitwan. I am glad that while the Dwarika’s Group preaches that food is a very important aspect of the lifestyle at the resort, they live what they preach by sourcing and growing their own organic, fresh Nepali ingredients. Here is one amazing looking salad recipe from Dwarika’s Resort Dhulikhel, which I believe we can all reproduce at home even if we can’t travel to beautiful Nepal!

Yomenya Goemon @ Star Vista

Tried out Yomenya Goemon @ Star Vista with an old friend for lunch, and found the lunch sets decent at $15.90 per set, which included a salad, soup and pasta main (fusion Japanese Italian) We had the Cheese Yasai Pasta and Chicken in Wafu Sauce Pasta. Though not hand made, I found the pasta cooked well al dente style, with good sauce. Another decent lunch spot in the Biopolis/Star Vista area though I find Long Black Cafe more value and quality for the same price.

&Made Burger (Restaurant Week)

Food Quality: 7.5/10 Value for Money: 7/10 (3-dishes for $35++=restaurant week price; Usual price=$42++) Service: 7/10 &MADE is the first restaurant concept by 3 Michelin Star Chef Bruno Menard in Singapore, so I was quite excited to try the supposed “fresh and high-quality products”  that Chef Bruno calls “Everyday Gourmet” on his site. 1) Nice Salad Fresh ingredients indeed! Served with Tuna, Onions, Bell peppers, Anchovies and Roasted Garlic Oil, this dish is indeed crunchy and fresh. But if this their normal sizing, it’s tad expensive for $16 (their usual menu price). 2) N.Y. Bacon Burger The burger is super fresh and yummy! Would go back to try other burgers after tasting this – traditional dry aged beef patty served with smoked bacon strips, with oozing mayonnaise, tomato, melting cheddar cheese, accompanied with crunchy lettuce and pickled cucumber. A beautiful calorific mess, with a pile of shoestring fries that one shouldn’t try to finish for health reasons; confirm food coma after from all that carbs! 😛 3) LOLLIPOP waffle Fun experiential dish served with caramel, white …
