Café Salivation is the first Western Vegetarian Café that opened in Little India since 2008. They use no MSG in their cooking which is why I was keen to try.
We started off with a strawberry shake that was supposedly vegan as it is from soy milk. But in retrospect, the server didn’t seem too confident when he answered me, so for fellow vegans, I suggest you double check before ordering!
The first main we tried was Penne Arabiatta ($11), which was Penne pasta tossed with button mushrooms, red/yellow/green capsicums and garnished with red chilli flakes. The tomato base was very fresh tasting, and the chilli gives it an adequate punch without being too spicy.
The Spaghetti Soya Bolognaise ($12.50) was also beautifully done, tasting quite like real meat texture which is reproduced from minced soya tossed with spaghetti.
The Mushroom Burger ($10) was filling and tasty with an assortment of mushrooms roasted and formed into burgers topped with basil pesto.
Overall, a good value meal at ~$12/pax with filling and tasty western dishes. I would definitely have the pastas again when I am back!
