Eat, Places to Eat

elemen @ Thomson Plaza

element @ Thomson Plaza is definitely one restaurant we regret not bringing our pro camera!! The ambience and food was so awesome we also focused so much on eating we have a few pictures only. But definitely going back for this #musttry. Love what they stand for – vegetarian, wholesome and minimum processing. We learn that elemen is backed by the Koufu chain; explains why they have the scale/marketing capability to attract a fairly good crowd on a weekday night for a vegetarian restaurant.

They are currently having an opening special until 12th Oct 2015; good value $18.80 for a 5 course yummy healthy meal! The 5 courses include 1 appetiser, 1 soup or salad, 1 main, 1 dessert and 1 beverage.

elemen Opening Special!

The elemen appetizer is standard. From left to right, it is cucumber roll, seaweed roll in sesame sauce and tomato plum. We were introduced the starters and asked to eat from right to left because it would go from light to heavy, sweet to sour. I was quite impressed.. Usually you only get this kind of introduction in atas restaurants 🙂

Tip: close your mouth when eating this tomato… I created a big spray as it was THAT juicy 😛

The food was so good we ended up trying 3 sets for 2 people. For soup/salad, we tried the:

1) Maca Soup – This was clearly herby but clear and refreshing at the same time.

2) Wild Mushroom Cream Soup with Truffle Oil – Super yumz though not vegan friendly. Can really smell the truffle!

“Infused with the intense earthy flavours from the mushrooms and white truffle oil, it is a hearty soup ideal for those who will like an immunity boost.” – elemen menu

3) Mushroom Salad – Cold Cooked Mushrooms 🙂

For mains, we had the:

1) Avocado roll in Japanese style – Love the fried enoki in it. No mock meats and very nice!!

2) Mushroom Risotto with Black Truffle – had a nice pop texture with strong truffle smell.. definitely one of my top mushroom risottos after French Ladle.

3) Tomato with Mozzarella Pizza (not vegan friendly) – Very well done thin crust with real mozzarella cheese.

And for dessert/beverage, we tried:

Desserts / Drinks @ elemen

1) Chocolate Lava Cake / Grapefruit Mojito

“Paired perfectly with vanilla gelato, the chocolate lava cake has a bitter-sweet combination. Gelato has a lower fat content as compared to ice-cream. A choice to indulge without guilt.” – elemen menu

2) Osmanthus Flower with Grass Jelly / Iced Lychee Green Tea

3) Panna Cotta with Raspberry Sauce / Sea Salt Coffee (Hot)

To be very honest, I think the weakest link in elemen are their desserts. Personally found the panna cotta too hard, and the chocolate lava cake did not have the flowy type of chocolate in it. Disappointing end but the dishes before are still epic 🙂

Would also be great if the menu could indicate “vegan”/ GF !
