The Provision Shop is a 2-week-old addition to the Everton Trail, and it was already crowded when we reached! The Provision Shop positions themselves as a gourmet deli with a focus on salads, sandwiches and light meals. Anthony Yeoh, executive chef of Cocotte at the Wanderlust hotel, is the culinary director of The Provision Shop and bring his vision of gourmet takeaway food to discerning clients. Hence, the dishes can be a full meal in itself or conveniently complement a meal at home.
The vintage décor of the Provision Shop stands out, and is brightly lit by an assortment of retro lamps – green, brass and eclectic. Personally felt the use of the central aircon to display their ingredients and old MILO tin an innovative use of space.
I also find their restaurant operations well established, with all their staff looking very sure of their individual roles in the kitchen and service front and moving confidently and efficiently. They also had handpainted decorations for the more personable touch.
As we were already stuffed from Drury Lane, we only managed to try the Latte ($5), Flat White ($5) and 2 Little Creatures Bright Ale. The coffee is served in kopitiam style cups. The coffee (beans from Highlanders) was quite lacking in punch, and given the good coffee competition like Nylon around the corner, it is good that the Provision Shop anchors their strength in their food. There has been some rave reviews on the food, especially their sandwiches and salads. The food descriptions sounds very yummy even from the menu’s description, and we will be back to try.
