Hi Guys,
This is my very first post from Melbourne and I am really excited to share with you this cafe that was recommended by some of my local mates studying here. Industry Beans, located at Fitzroy.
Having visited that place, my first impression of the cafe was a very modern outlook with an outdoor grassy lounge area which made it look a bit unusual amongst the studio apartments around this area. The seating area behind those glass doors were very humble in their arrangement and decorated with tiles/wooden panels and their stock piles of beans that they have roasted themselves, open for all customers to see (P.S. i will get more images of the interior the next time round i visit that place).
My mates specifically told me to get the waiters to do a recommendation of the coffee you would normally drink and they would advice you on the type of beans that they have and which beans might go along better with your regular drink. Being a difficult customer with my dietary allergies, I’m not able to take the usual creamy full cream lactose milk, i had to go for a soy alternative which most places may not be so well skilled in handling it, even in Melbourne. Nevertheless, I asked the waiter for a soy strong mocha which was my usual drink, and they recommended an autumn roast beans for my coffee extra instead of the usual roast they would serve their customers as this particular roast went really well with soy milk and as a mocha as well. Deciding to take their word for it, I went ahead with the order and so did two of my friends that went along with me(One decided to not go ahead with the recommendation advice and asked for his usuals, a latte).
We also ordered some food, Ciabattas with chicken and shaved carrot fries. Initially we did not know that those were carrot chips and thought it was odd when chewing on them but found them very different, sorta healthy :P, and yummy ^^.
I had a different brunch meal, an assorted plate of different elements, and as seen below, what really drew me to this dish from the menu was the smoked duck bacon marinated in espresso extract and i had to try that out! hehe it was slightly pricy, 25 aud dollars but it was work every penny, and the best part, it was filling! (and i am no small eater…)
Lastly, with the coffee recommendation, i would personally recommend you to come to this place, aside from my regular coffee place that i go to, this place could probably measure up to it.
2 words can only describe what i had here, “Coffee-Orgasm”, the autumn roast coffee went really well with the soy milk as they had said it would. In disbelief that they could replicate another coffee like that, i ordered a second cup which i would only do if that cafe was really up to my standards and true enough, the 2nd cup was just as good as the 1st cup i had ^_^
Warning though, my mate that did not follow the advice given by my other mates did not enjoy his coffee (a latte) and it did taste a little funny and sour according to him, the other ordered a hot chocolate and that turned out well too.
I would definitely go back to this place more frequently ^_^ already locked into “1 of the coffee places I would go on the weekends to chill out” and recommend this to any visitors coming to Melbourne to try it out.
