The Quiet Secret to Success

My mum has always told me to sleep enough and take naps if possible. Im huge believer of naps and glad to see more research supporting this belief now! 😀 “Super high achievers sleep significantly more than the average American.” http://www.positivelypositive.com/2013/09/22/the-quiet-secret-to-success

7 Tips for Your Wedding Preparations

Preparing for a wedding can be stressful. Very stressful. Especially if it’s a typical Chinese wedding in Singapore. For those who don’t know me, I recently tied the knot on Jul27, 2013. Was a very happy bride and now, a very happy wife :). Honestly, I am very thankful for the wedding process with N despite the seemingly endless tasks, because going through the process brought us closer together. The wedding prep helped us understand each others’ task-processing style further and hence, appreciate each other more, as one of us could do some types of wedding tasks much better than the other. I do not claim to have a perfect process, but some of my close friends who are brides-to-be have requested content on wedding preparation. So this is my list of things I look out for during the wedding preparation: 1) Start your wedding preparations with PRAYER In fact , we should start everyday with prayer. N and I prayed before running most of our wedding errands but I think we could have prayed …

Iron Sharpens Iron

http://proverbs31.org/blog/iron-sharpens-iron/ Indeed, a wise friend can make us wiser. I truly believe that we are strongly influenced by the 5 people we spend the most time with. Reflecting, I need to firstly pray to be growing to be more like Jesus – loving, obedient. Then try to live out these qualities to the people closest to me to love and encourage them as well. And lastly, it has become important for me to also make choices on who to spend time with Enough thinking and time to go for Saturday breakfast with Hubbubu and the family 😀

Why Social Cause?

Quite a few people have told me that it’s a interesting cause I am writing for, and that they like the big idea of helping kids from developing countries see the outside world. Reflecting, I have always been wanting to help others in some capacity. But when I started work, I figured that I first learn to focus on learning certain skill sets well to help others along the way. A wise person also told me a few years ago when I thought of leaving my current job to pursue a career in NGOs to first build up solid skillsets before trying to “save the world”. Logic being – if I have better organization/working skills and experience, i can eventually touch more lives by planning better strategies and saving more costs, than if I choose to move then, which will allow me to do more operational work and hence helping only on a smaller scale. So since then, I have been praying and working on some sort of a hybrid model – touching and improving …

Special Olympics

Before I worked on the Special Olympics tie-up with P&G in Singapore, I didn’t know anything about it. I even thought it was linked to the Olympics.  After organizing Special Olympics tie-up as trade marketing in 2011 as #pgemp, and then executing it in trade with Fairprice in 2013,  I find Special Olympics a really meaningful organization, dedicated to providing sports training for persons with intellectual disabilities, giving them opportunities to develop physical fitness, self-esteem and confidence, and become productive and respected members of society. I had the opportunity to meet some of the athletes and their mums earlier this year in May when we launched the Special Olympics event with Fairprice. It was very touching to see how the athletes have becomes beautiful, confident individuals through sports. And how their mums are so proud of them 🙂 Anyway, got news today that ESPN and Walt Disney will be tying with Special Olympics globally! Glad as Im sure this will surely raise awareness and funding/resources needed to help these special athletes!! Way to go! —- September …

Removing Neediness

The gospel, if it is really believed, removes neediness – the need to be constantly respected, appreciated, and well regarded; the need to have everything in your life go well; the need to have power over others. All of these great, deep needs continue to control you only because the concept of the glorious God delighting in you with all His being is just that – a concept and nothing more. Our hearts don’t believe it, so they operate in default mode. Paul is saying that if you want to really change, you must let the gospel teach you – that is to train, discipline, coach you – over a period of time. You must let the gospel argue with you. You must let the gospel sink down deeply into your heart, until it changes your motivation and views and attitudes. – Tim Keller

The Habits Of Supremely Happy People

“Good listening is a skill that strengthens relationships and leads to more satisfying experiences. A good listener may walk away from a conversation feeling as if their presence served a purpose, an experience that is closely connected with increased well-being”. Yay more reason to listen better (and talk less). Pray ill continue to practise more of these! http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/3909772

Every ordinary day is a blessing

I am down with a cold and decided to quarantine myself today (with my boss permission) . My hubbubu and mum both rushed home as fast as they could to spend time with me, and took turns to buy my favorite foods. Then my dad got home at his usual time to eat his dinner and feed my dog. Because everyday is usually such a rush, being able to just enjoy the small happenings through an ordinary day with the people who matter most is such a blessing. Even with a fever and achy joints. Whatever bug you are, pray u go away soon. Want to go back to work tmr. Sunset. #nofilter
