In winter of 2012, I had the opportunity to visit the UK and try the famous Restaurant Gordon Ramsay @ Royal Hospital Road, which is a 3 Michelin stars restaurant established in 1998. The restaurant is very small and intimate, and they are VERY strict on their dress code for the men, so please ensure no t-shirt or slippers or you will be denied entry! After more than 1 year, the amazing presentation AND flavours of the dishes still linger in my memory. One of the best meals of my life, comparable to Sushi Saito in Tokyo!
Me – super happy and thankful to be able to try Restaurant Gordon Ramsay after hearing SO much about it!
Even the menu cover is very atas
Very exciting menu, with recommended wine pairing
Details, even in the butter…
Starter – Soup with exquisite crackers topped with herbs and nuts
Pressed Foie Gras, smoked and confit duck, pickled pears and Tasmanian mountain pepper
Ravioli of lobster, langoustine and salmon poached in light bisque with a chervil veloute (aka giant yummy wan ton :P)
Isle of Gigha halibut with Atlantic King crab, cauliflower couscous, finge rlime and ras el hanout infused broth
I still vividly remember the taste of this dish in my mind. Simply explosive with 30+ different herbs in the broth………..
I would eat fish everyday if they were all cooked like this 🙂
Roasted pigeon from Besse with grilled polenta, smoked ventreche and date sauce
Suckling pig, crispy belly, roasted loin, spiced shoulder sausage, chou farci with crushed potatoes and spring onions
Roasted loin
Roasted loin – as soft and juicy as it looks 🙂
Suckling pig with apple slices
Mango, jasmine and passion fruit soup
Agen prune creme brulee with Granny Smith apple juice
Bread pudding
Other thanL’Atelier de Joel Robuchon Restaurant in Taipei, this is the other most pretty desserts I have tried:
Lemonade Parfait with honey, bergamot and sheep’s milk yoghurt sorbet
Pretty, citrus, light
Perfectly aesthetic dessert
Even the petit four is served with so much care..
Definitely one of my top candidates if I had to choose a last meal. Do reserve early if you want to visit as they do not usually open on weekends!
