Top Natural/Organic Healthier Dessert Places in Singapore

Because I love desserts, I am starting a list for good raw/organic/vegan desserts separate from the restaurants and cafe list! 1) Delcie’s Desserts and Cake Organic, Egg Free, Dairy Free, Gluten Free and Diabetic Friendly I am so happy to find a healthy dessert alternative! Delcie’s mother passed away due to stomach and intestine cancer, which is why Delcie became a strong advocate to healthy eating, as she believes that “food can either be your medicine or your poison.” She pioneered the technique in baking guilt-free Organic, Egg Free, Dairy Free, Gluten Free and Diabetic Friendly cakes in Singapore, which is today’s Delcie’s Desserts and Cakes. We tried the double chocolate cake before and it was very yummy without the guilty!! Delcie’s Desserts and Cakes Address: Blk 34 Whampoa West #01-83 Singapore 330034 (map) Boon Keng MRT Exit Operating Hours: Tue – Sun (11am – 8pm), Public Holidays (11am – 3pm), Closed on Mondays. Butter Studio @ Jalan Besar

After a disappointment along the Jalan Besar trail with Tiramisu Hero, I was a little sceptical to try another new Butter Studio Bakery. I was wondering if it was just another nicely decorated Hipster Bakery with no real substance. But Butter Studio caught my eye from across the road when I was having lunch at the Jalan Besar Food centre (which, btw, has very nice Pahang “sashimi” for $3 at the congee shop), and we decided to cross the road to try Butter Studio out. One is welcomed into the shop house by a tent over grass turf and outdoor table made from stacked up pallets. It is an easy to do set up for people to hang out outdoors. The layout of the cakes and cupcakes is very welcoming at the entrance. There are also very ornate articles like a bicycle outdoors with nice flowers in the front basket. Definitely good impressions from the decoration effort! I am welcomed by rows of interesting cakes, cupcakes, food and tarts on the left when I enter the …

Brawn and Brains Cafe

Another off the beaten track, oh-no-my-gps-said-i-arrived-but-i-still-can’t-see-it cafe! So, first tip: for drivers, turn into the sports complex! Its there! Or if missed it, just turn left into Guillemard Crescent, and there are parking lots in front of the condominium called Cosmo. Very unassuming small cafe that sits only less than 15 people, which is also why they don’t allow reservations. We were greeted by friendly young server, who reminds me of local celebrity, Lim Peifen. Through our conversation, I learnt that the cafe is named Brawn and Brains because this cafe is in the same building as the rock climbing wall and tuition centre. How quaint! We tried both kinds of open face sandwiches – bacon molten egg and salmon. Both for $7. The Grilled Bacon open face sandwich, served with mozzarella, mixed greens, rocket, cherry tomatoes and a single molten egg. I really enjoyed the crispy bacon with melting yolk texture! The Salmon open face sandwich, on the other hand, is served with cottage cheese, rocket and cherry tomatoes, also served with a single molten …

Lady M – Mille Crêpe Cake

**Updated with better pictures as promised! Thanks to my dear cousins who allowed me to go back to Lady M to celebrate D&S birthday so N could get much better shots 🙂 —- After hearing so much rave about Lady M, I finally got to try it last night. And oh my, the Mille Crêpe Cake is truly mind blowing. The official site describes it as with “no less than twenty paper-thin handmade crêpes layered with ethereal light pastry cream, gently caramelized on top until golden.” I won’t try to re-describe it as it was truly…ethereal 🙂 YUMZZZZZZZZZZ (9/10!) Pity we didn’t have our DSLR, so sorry for phone camera shots quality for this post! The Checkers Cake was good as well, but totally overshadowed by the Mille Crêpe Cake. I will go back to try the Banana Mille Feuille and promise better photos next round 🙂 Tip: Take away to save on queueing time and service charge! —- Address: Marina Square Shopping Mall 6 Raffles Boulevard #02-103 Singapore 039594

Everton Food Trail – Just Want Coffee, Traditional Ang Ku Kueh, Audacious Bakery

Everton Park has become quite a happening place since our dear JM opened up Nylons in the neighbourhood. btw, Nylons Coffee is my Hubbubu’s favourite coffee in Singapore, and definitely one of our favourites; we even used them for our wedding! I will write another entry on them on my next visit! Back to today’s post. As our dear friend, Mr D, named it, this post shall be titled the Everton Food Trail because a lot of hippy cool places have popped up there. This trail comprises: 1) Just Want Coffee – coffee place, doh. 2) Traditional Ang Ku Kueh – looks crowded but didn’t try this round 3) Audacious Bakery – one of the best cakes in Singapore. I would tie them with K-ki 4) Grin Affair – looks like ice cream place but haven’t tried! Also not calling this a review because I will write again when I have been back to try everything! The Everton neighbourhood with cool corridors 1) Just Want Coffee  (6/10) Typical hippee cafe with raw, grungy walls and …
