Vitamin C and Cancer – Research

“Many studies have been made over the years with the following results shown: Treatment with high-dose vitamin C slowed the growth and spread of prostate, pancreatic, liver, colon, malignant mesothelioma, neuroblastoma, and other types of cancer cells. Combining high-dose vitamin C with certain types of chemotherapy may be more effective than chemotherapy alone: Ascorbic acid with arsenic trioxide may be more effective in ovarian cancer cells. Ascorbic acid with gemcitabine may be more effective in pancreatic cancer cells. Ascorbic acid with gemcitabine and epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) may be more effective in malignant mesothelioma cells. Another laboratory study suggested that combining high-dose vitamin C with radiation therapy killed more glioblastoma multiforme cells than radiation therapy alone. Additionally the studies found that patients who received IV vitamin C had better quality of life and fewer side effects than those who did not.” — The Demster Clinic, Toronto Source: I get a lot of enquiries on Vitamin C and cancer from my previous entry on my Vitamin C IV drip experience. As such, I decided to share a bit about my summarized research on Vitamin C and cancer and why I was willing to let my mum (and myself – just for health …

Detox Retreat @ The LifeCo Phuket

It has been almost 2 years since my last proper juice fast so N and I decided to head to Phuket to do a 3 day detox! The LifeCo Phuket is located around a lake, and is the newest kid on the block in Phuket to offer most natural solutions to fight against ageing and diseases. I decided to try out the LifeCo Phuket because I agree with their 360 degrees holistic approach together with healthy nutrition, anti-ageing and well-being therapies, prevention treatments for chronic diseases and cancer as well as pampering and beauty treatments alongside with spiritual therapies, all in the same complex. I love that they also have doctors and nurses – look forward to them giving the most updated and holistic advice for our health. The LifeCo may be new in Phuket, but their first outlet in Turkey has been opened for more than 10 years. I was quite excited to know that celebrities fly themselves to The LifeCo in Turkey just to detox! We were warmly welcomed at the airport on …

Oil Pulling for Oral Health (and other benefits!)

After a long hiatus of blogging, I decided to write about Oil Pulling, a daily habit I started a few months ago 🙂 I was advised by my holistic dentist to try oil pulling to remove bacteria and promote healthy teeth and gums. It seems simple enough so I decided to try! Originating from Ayurvedic medicine, oil pulling is a oral detoxification procedure that is simply done by swishing a tablespoon of oil in your mouth for 10-20 minutes. I use organic coconut oil, but sesame/olive oil works as well! Process: Do oil pulling first thing in the morning, before eating or drinking anything  Swish a tablespoon of oil in your mouth for 10-20 minutes, drawing them through your teeth. (I do this then either bathe/do other morning chores) Spit the oil out into the trash can. Do NOT spit into sink or toilet bowl to prevent clogging. (Usually the clear oil would become whitish as our saliva and bacteria would have interacted with the oil) Do tongue-scrapping (You should see a lot of thick white thick …

PH360 – World’s First Personalized Health Tool

I have recently been given the privilege to be one of the pioneers in Singapore to experience a new personalized health assessment tool you can do on your own in the comfort of your home called PH360, which stands for having a 360 degrees view on your Personal Health. PH360 is created by internationally renowned health expert, Matt Riemann, who was diagnosed with a terminal illness 9 years ago. Since then, he has spent the past decade gathering an international team of collaborators who are leading scientists, researchers, medical doctors and health professionals with expertise in the fields of anthropometry, endocrinology, molecular biology, epigenetics, phenotypology, nutrigenomics and neuroscience, to tackle this seemingly impossible task. Since then, he has not just recovered but in 2014, Riemann and his team launched the world’s first personalised health tool PH360 based on gene expression, combining concepts of Chinese medicine, Ayurveda and conventional medicine to produce a platform with the ability to predict the exact foods, fitness, environments and lifestyle – or epigenetic factors – to make intuitive decisions for one to stay healthy and avoid disease. So, to start …
